We're back in California so I can get medical care for my back and have insurance here to cover everything. I was delighted to see my plumeria (frangipani) trees have burst out in fragrant bloom! In walking through the yard, I was amazed to find this abandoned-but-perfect hummingbird nest at eye level and easily within sight! It was on a gorgeous branch of the guava tree, so I cut it for some photos and to set out for awhile.
It will never cease to amaze me how delicate this little nest is with animal hairs, cobwebs and flecks of leaves and bark!
A stunning image. These little nests never cease to amaze me neither. Some of them have bits of cloth or wool as a lining. Heaven knows where they get it from. Hope you can get your back issues resolves asap :-)
i hope you feel better soon. i love seeing these nests. one i particularly remember and i know i have a photo of it is a robin's nest on the side of the road with a few broken blue shells in it. you just have to hope and pray that the eggs hatched and the babies have learned to fly. aces on the shot, my lady.
Such a beautiful capture of that tiny nest - a little miracle of nature!! Love the backdrop of your beautiful flowers!! Fav!!
So sad about your back problems but hopefully now you are home you will be able to get it sorted. There is no place like home when you are feeling poorly!! Big hug xx
They are clever wee things, eh? Sympathies on the back. I had spinal surgery a few years back. Hope you can get the help and relief you need now you’re back. All the best.
A beautiful close up of the nest and flowers.
Welcome back in California, although it`s not the place to be with all those destruction fires. Poor nature and people. An optimistic line on you bad back. You can grow old with it. Often not comfortable, I know all about it. But I`m still there.
Are those awful fires causing you any problems? I know that the big ones are in North California but I gather it's very dry round your neck of the woods too.
Oh dear, Louise. Sorry you had to fly home for back therapy. That in itself is a long trip. Plus we have all those awful fires raging...17 at the moment in California. I will email soon, Louise...it has been a busy July!
Besutiful picture with the flowers in the background. We don’t have hummingbirds here, but they really fascinate me. Thank you for following my project. I was already following yours. Best wishes for your back. You are in good hands😀
I’ve a back issue too — chiropractors, physical therapy and massage help me to ease the pain- I completely change my lifestyle, trying to get rid of body toxins,I switched to mostly vegan now, no red meat and thank God, back to light jogging again— I’ve this pain for 20/years now, I’m off also from all of these pain killers- all the side effects will just put me to the grave— hope you feel better and please take care of your back,💕
@joemuli How thoughtful and kind of you to step up with reassurances that this is something I can bring back under control. Ken and I have been reading up about back issues and it seems like this is inevitable when we've been allowed a long and active life! Several years ago, in the emergency room, seeing to a sprained ankle, I was dropped and that started the cycle of back issues. You're 100% correct that a diet change is helpful, and I find I'm doing much as you are without doing so purposefully. I eat very little red meat now because I feel worse if I do, and that's reason enough to stop! In 3 1/2 years, this is only the third time it's flared up. We were in Canada with travelers insurance, so I went to emerg (twice) and without so much as an exam, I was handed too many (3 types) and quantity of pain pills, so we decided to come back and see my doctors at home in California. I'm having an MRI shortly, and my doctor has a plan of action going forward, so I know I made the correct choice for me. "Jogging" is still not on my list, but I know the value of a pain-free day! We're in this boat together, and as you showed, we have choices to make to determine our outcome. Thanks for sharing your story... Interesting, isn't it, that we see the photos and imagine the photographer, but we often know little of their story... ♥
Sorry to hear about your back. I suffer from a bad back and know how painful it can be. Was there any poop on the nest? It looks like one that was build and not used yet. Some times it takes up to a few weeks after building to lay eggs. Keep your eye on it, you may find eggs in it very soon.
Hi there Louise, sorry to hear of your back troubles. Do hope you get some relief from your pain soon. Bernie suffers back pain, but nought can be done at this stage. We are thinking of you.
