Foggy Day by Weezilou

Foggy Day

The sun shined on a perfect holiday yesterday, and today is muffled in fog so celebrants can sleep in! Ken and I slipped out to get photos, but upon returning, the note I left hadn't been moved. John and Ashley were ensconced in the living room, reading. I'd brought home baked goods from a church rummage sale...chocolate covered rice krispie 'dream cakes' with a marshmallow filling... (1950s Country Cooking ; )

Once up, "party-planner Hazel" asked for suitcases to prop up blankets so they could make forts... 50s-Style childhood play to go with those "Dream Cakes"! No tablets necessary!

**In my tags, I had no idea about the yacht. Ken researched the details, it doesn't name the owner, but it does cost approximately $175,000 to fill the gas tank for the next 5000 miles!
Love those colourful houses!

Lovely scene which reminds me of Bergen in Norway.

Great foggy shot and I like the narrative accompanying it. It is a little like Bergen as Issi said above.

@jamibann @ankers70 Thanks to you both! I've never been to Norway; I'd love to make a comparison with some first-hand knowledge of Lunenburg! I'd love to make the time to travel more again!

Wonderful scene

Lovely, definitely has a Scandi feel to it.

Looking beautiful even on a foggy day!

A beautiful view on the water, boats and houses on a sillence fogy day.

I love how the house colours really pop against the foggy grey. Hearing of ‘party planner Hazel’ reminds me of our family Christmases. Hot weather, family together and kids using imagination to add to the tapestry of collective memories. Wonderful.

The yacht seems so different from everything else. That’s a lot of money for gas!

Thank you, everyone for taking the time to look and read! Lunenburg has certainly given us enough memories for a lifetime! Even, just when I think I'm posting a scene I've shared here before, a yacht parks in the foreground and changes it all up again!
@jacqbb @rosiekind @pdulis @jamibann @joansmor I never tire of going to the golf course across the harbour, and a photograph of this same scene is never the same twice!
@koalagardens Sometimes our photos are little weather reports to one another around the world!
@ankers70 @boxplayer @jamibann Just struck me that movies are filmed up here because the story line is believable if it's supposed to be set in coastal Maine! Someone needs to tell them it might also be a stand in for Norway, but not so cold!
@pamknowler "Muted" is still a pretty tone!
@pyrrhula The morning was beautifully still...the morning after the holiday festivities, and that muffled quiet that fog (or fresh snow!) brings!
@kartia I see we are like-minded about giving children the space to use their imaginations! You worded that so beautifully, "adding to the tapestry of collective memories!" Early on I realized how lovely it is that so many photographers here also write eloquently, making the exchanges all-the-more meaningful!
@danette "Someone" isn't having to decide between topping off the tank or making a steak dinner for six! Ashley reported in this afternoon another yacht came in, and from past visits here, we know it is the CEO of Carnival Cruise lines!

PS to all of you...can you spot the purple house peeking past the church on the right?

Superb harbor, my eyes fell when I read the price of one tank filling … that’s insane

And yes I see the purple house on the top of the hill through the trees, is that yours ?
Your question made me look closer , it’s an enchanting harbor with these colorful houses , I love the big turquoise too !

Beautiful capture of the harbour and the buildings along the quay - very atmospheric too. Some people have all the money.

Such a fabulous scene. Good grief, that yacht!
July 3rd, 2022
Nice, is that one of those russian boats? lol

That huge yacht looks out of place in such a pretty little harbour. My eyes watered at the thought of that fuel bill. I do see your lovely purple house and another one nestled between the colourful houses closer to the water.

@brillomick Initially, "Oligarch" came to my mind as well!

Wonderful capture

Wonderful. I want to be there so badly.

@yogiw There certainly are some wonderful places to visit in this world! I'm sorry Cathee never made it up here, and there was a time I welcomed anyone who wanted to come up! Sadly, we're in the process of closing up shop here and selling...but hopeful some of our friends will invite us back!!! There's nothing like this (for me) for the photo opportunities!
