Regeneration by abhijit

Regeneration

A few years ago a bushfire swept through these mountains. The trees are now regenerating. It made for a striking landscape throughout the snowy mountains, as the burnt tree trunks had been washed clean and stood as bones amongst green undergrowth fast catching up.
I would like some critique on this shot as a landscape. Is it any good? Honest opinion :-)
Well, I find the shot to be quite striking because of the contrast between the old and new.

I like it. The contrast of the bones (burnt trees) and the green is really cool. I like the lines and shadows. I think you did great shooting this!

I am not good at landscapes, so take my feedback with a grain of salt. I like the layers of the green and the bare trees and the shape of the hill is interesting.
The only thing is that the sky is a bit washed out, and I am wondering if you could have done some bracketing so as to expose for the sky correctly, and then merged them? Your thoughts?
Also, perhaps something in the foreground would help to give it some depth, but this may not have been possible.

beautiful contrast of colours!

I love the remains of the dead tress, they are striking against the new growth. I don't have any experience taking landscape shot but I think this is wonderful.

I think this is very well done. I like the shadows on the trees and the contrast.

cool curves

I like it a lot. The contrast of old and new - with the dark and light. It even has the feel of a drawing.

I like how the grayish tones mingle with the green. Lovely t(h)ree layers. I agree with Janelle about putting something in the foreground to create more depth and also a bit more 'bite' for the sky. In general I love this photo!

I really like the contrast of old and new as well. As others have said, I'm wondering if taken with a blue sky you might have achieved even more contrast with the burnt trees. I really like it though Abhijit.

Excellent composition, great contrast and very striking

Love the dramatic shadows and the burnt trees make for a wonderfully surreal landscape. As for the sky, I'm wondering if washing it out even more might add to the stark, somber feeling you've created.

I fav'd it before seeing you wanted feedback. For me the high contrast, composition , and almost surreal nature of the shot made me want to study it like a piece of art.

Also loved the title

great to see the healing, The earth is so amazing in it's resilience.

Beautiful =)

I think the contrast between the old and the new trees is very captivating. As some others have mentioned, a less burnt out sky would enhance this even further I think, but i don't have any real landscape experience. I also like the light shadow play on tne trees and wonder if this could be slightly more defined?

wonderful view

beautiful capture! great view and composition!

A wonderful shot Abhijit and you've done really great with the rule of thirds. I would possibly try leaving only a very slight bit of the sky in, as you would still have your 3 levels, but I'm not sure if it would work?? Love the contrasts! :-))

I am no expert...but I really like this...you have caught the contrast so clearly and the sunlight on them really enhances it. The sky is a little pale, but sometimes it is!

I also like the contrast between old, burnt trees and the new green growth. I do also think that a slightly darker sky would probably enhance the burnt trees and add to the contrast. As SarahP (@sarahp) suggested maybe try to crop some of the sky out.

I like it. Mainly for the contrast of old and new. It's very striking.

I think it's good - there's a great contrast between the new growth and the old trees. It's the sort of landscape not seen too often and for that reason it's all the more captivating. It's tricky to judge without being there but I would have tried to widen the shot a little but of course this might have reduced the old/new contrast. I really like this as an image :)

I like it the only thing I would change is it's dimensions. I am curious how it would look if it were narrower and longer.

Very engaging landscape

wow

My amateur opinion is that it is wonderful! The contrast between the burnt trees and green is striking.

I like your contrasts and the way it naturally falls into thirds. I do feel uncomfortable with your POV being so much higher than the trees.

I love the contrast between life and death. The sunlight highlighting the new growth is stunning. The only critique I would have is the clipping in the sky. Beautiful landscape.

I think it looks awesome

I love the contrast - great to see the trees growing back. I don't know if its just my eyes but it doesn't look straight to me.
