This is a shot I took last month (just before I joined, actually) that I'd not got round to processing.
Looking down over the edge of the Cleveland Dam in North Vancouver. The dam holds back Capilano Lake, which supplies 40% of the drinking water for the Greater Vancouver area.
This required balancing my tripod in a rather precarious position over the guard wall. As I'm not great with heights, composing the shot through the viewfinder wasn't an entirely pleasant experience for me!
I'm a British software developer and photographer living in Vancouver, BC. I mainly photograph landscapes, cityscapes, night scenes, and water.
If you're interested in any...
I get a vague feeling of vertigo just looking at it here.
Love the PoV - feels a bit disorienting (like the water is running 'the wrong way' towards me).
That's such a breathtaking view, isn't it? Quite different from the lonely lake house on the other side :) It's one of the best shots of the dam I saw - well done.
This is awesome! Very nice! from what I have noticed the past couple years is you have to get out of your confort zone somethimes to get the best shots! makes it totally worth it.
Interesting perspective, I had to look at it for a while before I figured out the top was down, and read about the height lol! Me, not fond of heights either!! Nice capture, and brave!!
really cool shot - - love the perspective....though makes me a little nauseous to imagine having to lean over any guard rail to get the shot...cool lines and movement!
