The word for the day is "collection." As I don't really collect anything I thought of my daughter's Troll doll collection, or perhaps my son's old Ninja Turtle collection. Surely, though, there must be something I collect. Then I realized I frequently stop and try to collect my thoughts. This immediately brought to mind this picture I took of my mother last week. My sister and I were playing with manual settings, and this is one of my first pictures using manual settings and the 50mm lens my sister gave me for Christmas. In her mid-eighties now, my mother has a wonderful collection of experiences, memories, and thoughts. So, here's to collecting our thoughts today.
I love this, April. What a meaningful shot - I think it's the perfect thing to sum up collection. The lighting is just perfect too. I love how contemplative she looks!
@emrob Thank you. It is rare to get a candid picture of my mother, but she was unaware she was our "test subject" and I felt lucky to get one good photo from our experimenting with settings.
