I spy....fifty?

Winter returned with a vengeance. It's hard to tell how much snow we have, as the winds have driven it all into drifts. One man spent the night in his pickup because of white out conditions, cattle are walking over fences, and the birds are huddled in the bushes weathering the storm.

Remember "I Spy" and "Where's Waldo"? That's how I feel today, running from window to window seeing who is huddled in the trees. How many do you see? I think there are about 50 in this bunch. They were a bit segregated. This bunch is mostly sparrows. To the right were the finches, both house and goldfinch, and more of the red-wing blackbirds. Just one or two robins, and the stray dove. I picked this bunch because the goldfinches are so deep in the bush you can only catch a glimpse of their yellow. Maybe I'll look for a bit more color later, but this is the story of the day. Wind, snow, and white-out conditions.
Very interesting snow scene - almost a loose abstract. Nice shot

Amazing the birds almost form an ellipse in the snow laden branches Love it

@pistonbroke @paul2782 You are both very kind. Felt quite limited with light and conditions but liked seeing them all together.

Kev
After the rubbish spring we've had in the UK (which finally seems to be improving at least in terms of emperature) you have my sympathies.
Lovely shot though!

Super contrast in this shot. Those poor cold birds are probably rethinking spring in Nebraska.

I can't imagine it still being winter, but what a great capture of so many different birds! Hope you all stay warm!

Love this! I can't believe how many birds you managed to get in one shot. The snow is beautiful too!

Great shot, like the colours of this photo.

Wow! I trust that you were out there with seed and suet to keep them fed?

@steampowered I kept the feeders full, but the cold and wind deterred them from eating. However, they've made up for lost time since.
