These big puffballs disperse their seeds in a similar fashion to dandelions, but on a much larger scale. The dogs made a mad dash past this one as soon as I settled in, sending seeds off to the wind. It is too hot to go looking for another, so I took my shot and went extreme with the histogram. Rather like this very odd interplay of lines and light. A bit more interesting if viewed large on black.
@gerry@darrenboyj Thank you. Decided to try and identify this, as they are fairly numerous if you look for them. They are the seeds of a Yellow Salsify also known as Goat's Beard. Fairly plain yellow flower, but fun seed head. I will probably go looking for some again around sunset some evening.
