Dandelion drop bw by aecasey

Dandelion drop bw

Had a bit of extra time today, so I decided to try a dandelion seed/water drop image. Surprisingly, once you get the droplet on, it is quite stable, which was fortunate because I had a devil of a time figuring out lighting. This was my first shot. Not much for background or light, so converted it to black and white.
Nice one April! Do you put something in the water, or does it stay on its own?

I love this

@aecasey Well done! I have read that some sugar in the water helps it stay, but I've never (yet) tried that type of shot.

@jamibann Thank you...it stays on its own. I had to use a syringe to get a small enough drop. I'm just too clumsy with a dropper. Aaron @grizzlysghost kindly shared his setup for this in his May 2013 Dandelion Seed series.

@jamibann It is a fun bucket list shot. I would still like to try to get a reflection other than lights in the droplet.

I am looking things working backwards so I saw the colour first. I actually prefer this. Very simple, very delicate :)
