Another for my get-pushed challenge. It was a beautiful moonlit night. Warmer than the other night, so I stayed out longer. This is 72 images, still with f/4.0, 10 sec, 10mm, iso 400. It didn't turn out quite as I expected, as I thought the clouds would be more feathery. I have a lot to learn about stacked images. Once again, if you have a moment it is better on black.
@bill_fe Thank you. I did use StarStax. I liked the trails it created on yesterday's more when I didn't wait so long between exposures, but on this one I thought ahead and set up the landscape. Yesterday's was just a practice in the front yard and I don't like the messy winter trees, but was excited to know I could do this.
@vignouse Thank you. I agree that star trails for the sake of star trails aren't very exciting. There are many I like, though, because of the landscape or foreground. I had intended to have more windmill, but one tends to get caught up in the sky in this open, flat country.
@lynne5477 There is a full moon this week, and in researching star trails I came across this article: http://starcircleacademy.com/startrails/ I didn't do any math. Just went outside and used the initial settings, which seemed to work with the amount of moonlight I had. I liked the shorter settings because I didn't get any hot spots. If I hadn't had the full moon I would have tried with a longer exposure.
