Tradition has it that we start our 4th of July celebration watching the local parade. This is followed by a picnic in the country attended by as many of our family as can gather, and ends sitting on the front lawn awaiting the rodeo fireworks show. Instead of our own fireworks, we lit lanterns and sent our wishes off into the sky. This year family came from near and far and stayed into the waning hours treasuring this tradition started by my parents so many years ago.
