angel wings by aecasey

angel wings

I asked the zoo keepers about the wings on this male swan, and was told he has angel wing. The last joint of his wings is twisted and the feathers are stripped. In the wild this can lead to early death. He's lucky, though, because here he is cared for.
The black and white treatment gives this image a magical feel. Just lovely and happy to know he is a lucky guy!

Nice b&w shot, Hazel. I've seen these before; a pitiful sight but the birds do seem to live a near-normal life in a protective environment.

he looks very cold and wet. I'd never heard of this condition--the swan is fortunate to have this home.
