ants

Green is gracing fields and yards, the rhubarb is bubbling, flower bulbs are sending up their shoots, and the red wing blackbirds have filled the yard with song. Amidst the awakening I found this huge ant hill alive with activity. For today, at least, it feels like spring.
Wow, fantastic macro

Great macro shot, but the ants do make me feel a bit creepy!
I am your Get Pushed partner for this week. I have looked over your images from the last couple of months and notice you do not do many photos of architecture. I would like you to do a black and white shot of shapes in architecture. I hope this is OK

Icky but very cool pic! My husband was doing yard work today and he said he found an ant retirement colony...a million were awakened!

I hope they don't bite you!

I don't think I'd have gotten this close. I always seem to get bitten by ants even small ones. Fantastic detail in this shot.

Great close up of the ants at work.

VML everything about this. Reminded me that when I picked up a spider or the floor the other day to put in on a plant...it bit me! I was startled as I've 'rehoming' spiders in this way for years.

Great macro shot of these insects. Back at the beginning of my alphabet macro project I was wishing that an ant would show up in time to be featured as the "A" photo. No such luck.
