Still playing with my transparency push. Once again, not exactly the look I was going for, but I'm finding that my shooting style sometimes just doesn't fit what I'm envisioning in my head. I did try changing my style (pov, composition, DoF), and then I came back to this.
I really like this photo a lot! Not sure what you were trying to do but this is fantastic. Love the colours and subtle tones in this and the reflections. What was the bulb sitting on...just curious to know how you set this shot up? Huge fav for me!
@marnies Thank you! I actually got the idea here: http://365project.org/cassiadawn/365/2015-04-03
but just could not get those tonal contrasts on my bulb. I did try different surfaces, but I almost always come back to my kitchen counter and that's what it's lying on. I have east facing windows, so morning light is not too bad and that surface does a great job reflecting. It actually has brown splotches throughout the black, but the black still picks up a lot of reflection. I need to start doing a better job of bouncing light even with my preference of natural lighting, but I usually try to get a morning shot if I'm using the counter and let the ISO do the rest ;-)
