three petals

Wendy challenged me to find a shot I was not happy with or that I thought I could improve. I noticed in my first month of images I had two sunflower photos, https://365project.org/aecasey/365/2012-08-02 and https://365project.org/aecasey/365/2012-08-07 neither of which were very well composed nor particularly pleasing to look at. I've been trying to get an interesting sunflower image this week, and find that this flower continues to challenge me compositionally. However, I did find this one just beginning to open its petals tonight, and thought the rule of odds might help in conquering this flower. I also like the mix of closed and opening petals, as well as the diagonal created by the closed bud, opening bud, and leaf. Finally, I added a texture in Topaz for a bit of atmosphere.
