Lani challenged me to "shoot a still life with objects or things which will be items that express yourself. To be a self portrait of that which speaks who you are." Good challenge as I have so much trouble setting up still lifes. I decided on these items, though, as the poem is from my childhood and I've always carried its words with me. The lamp is from my teen years, and I do always try to shine my light. The cast hands are me holding my daughter's hand when she was about 3, which, to me, speaks to the nurturing, caring side of me. Hopefully this expresses me. Probably should have shot it with my 35mm, as I was reading that still lifes need negative space and I think the 50mm didn't give me much of that, but I am one to try and fill the frame. Oh ... BoB because that give the much needed negative space!
LaniK @lanikyea Thank you for the challenge. I have a lot of trouble setting up still lifes, and I fiddled with this for quite awhile to get it close to what looked all right. It was also interesting trying to find objects to express who I am. Great challenge!
Absolutely love it and a FAV!
