Paper products and face masks.
Today was our grocery run. This was our first trip to town in ten days. We put in an online order for pickup at Walmart, which was very fast and efficient. They were knocking on my car window before I finished letting them know I'd arrived! I popped the back, they loaded the groceries, and we maintained social distancing throughout.
To gather what we could not order for pickup only youngest went into the store. The store had one way traffic in and out, and most people were wearing masks. We limited our visit to only two stores, Walmart and Target, and were on our way back home after less than 90 minutes in town.
I've never tried the pick-up at WalMart - but may next time. Our own little town never has everything I need and I shop there based on the number of cars in the parking lot. Have gone from being a daily shopper to a weekly shopper - one big step. This definitely tells the picture of the times.
@ludwigsdiana I was surprised at how well it worked out. Like your hubby, though, I wanted to have more control over selection of fresh veggies and meats, so youngest went in to buy those for me. This worked well, though, because she had only a few items to shop for so she was not in the store very long at all, which helps with our new focus on social distancing.
Good idea to handle it like you did. We don't have that opportunity here, but if so, I would do the same. There are some stores that offer online orders, but you have to take delivery inside the market, as far as I know. But that's okay, because it also reduces social contacts and the time you normally would spend in the store.
I hope, more German people will wear masks soon...only in some areas it is obligatory now (not in Lower Saxony, where I live).
Best wishes to you and stay safe!
@janemartin 😊No loo rolls this trip. All the shelves were empty. Thankfully I started stocking up at the end of February, so we are ok for awhile yet. Strange what items make it to the top of the shopping list these days!
