For nearly 50 years there was a local iris farm with acres and acres of irises. They always graciously opened it to public viewing, and I often took the kids to visit when the flowers were in full bloom. The couple who kept the acreage retired two years ago, and the iris beds are now gone. In an article about their irises they said that one of the greatest challenges had been that the only pollinator for irises are bees. So, when I saw this bumblebee visiting these irises when I was mowing today I just had to get its picture. Oh ... do you see the little crab spider enjoying a miller for lunch? Surprise!
