These two bucks have been with this herd of does all summer. I think they mainly stay close to the house in the fields and windbreaks. I was so happy to see they survived deer hunting season. There were lots of hunters driving by, but we don't allow hunting near the houses and cattle.
I'd don't know your deer, but I breathed a huge sigh of relief with you when you mentioned they survived the hunting season. I know hunting is necessary and all but I just hate it that beautiful, innocent animals like these are killed. They're so beautiful right here in your field.
Wonderful news. Beaver Island's hunting season led to a Covid breakout. One hunter infected...next week there were 6 on the island (hunter had left) and now there are 25. I wonder if more of the herd made it? And if they did, hoping for a mild winter so there's sufficient food. Always a tradeoff.
