@ludwigsdiana I was probably 12"-18" away from this flower. These grow in small mounds, so I was basically at the edge of the mound picking out the subject.
@ludwigsdiana I did a workshop quite awhile ago. The instructor hated my shallow depth of field. He wanted me to up my f-stops to 8 or 9 or even more. I like shallow depth of field, so I play around a bit. I have found with my old lens that it is often easier to move the camera forward and back until I get a focus I like, rather than trying to constantly focus the lens.
