The local wetlands wildlife area has closed for the winter. There are protected bald eagle nesting sites there. So we visited another favorite birding area in a pine tree forested ridge where the songbirds find fall and early winter refuge. The little nuthatches were very busy on the suet feeders and in the pine trees. I noticed some were wearing leg bands. Wish I knew their individual stories.
