Okay, so in this world so full of terror, intolerance and general negativity it was like a breath of fresh air to come across this today. This is only a small portion of some street graffiti at a downtown crosswalk. The whole piece is about 2 1/2 blocks long and refreshingly different from the gang tagging normally associated with such things. Apparently someone got out their colored chalk in the middle of the night and spent hours drawing flowers and hearts (with glitter added!) all over the place, included a giant earth, and even placed helium balloons on the parking meters, each with a hand written message of fun and happiness. There were also messages on the walk saying things like "Fall In Love With a Stranger", "Follow Your Heart" and "We Are All Pretty Awesome." The hearts shown above are part of a trail of them across the street and down and around the block ending in a message that said "Play, Have Fun, It's Free!"
On top of all that, a witness said the rogue artist is a Harley-riding woman. I mean how cool is that?! See @flygirl for her Jan 12 post. She was with me at the time! Best. Vandalism. Ever.
@catwhiskers Sadly, it has been cleaned up already. Gawd forbid we should keep such a "mess" on our sidewalks, what with shoppers tracking in all that chalk and everything. Hmph.
