Finally a clear, starry night on the coast! @Pixelchix and I headed out a bit late last evening, but were able to find a spot to see the comet at last. May try heading out a little earlier tonight for more fun...
Many thanks as ever for all your comments, faves, follows and most of all your amazing images. Peace, y'all!
okay what is the directional position the comet is in, northeast, north-north, northwest? i want to make sure i go to the right place when i go out of my building. thanks for the info. this is a great shot, aces!
@summerfield This was taken about 2 hours after sunset (give or take) in the northwest. Assuming you're in the northern hemisphere, look to the Big Dipper, then below. It's getting higher in the sky now, which is nice for viewing above the marine layer where I live. It's not as bright as it was when first seen earlier this month, but if you have a clear sky with not much light around, you can still see it even with the naked eye!
This is awesome- but so were your other shots! I'm assuming you're using a tripod. But what do you have your camera set at. I was thinking I should set mine like I do for a moon shot, but I'm not sure since the comet is not reflecting the sun like the moon is.
@olivetreeann Thank you! The setting may vary depending on lens, but try starting at f2.8, 15 secs, ISO 3200. It will also vary depending on environmental conditions, but don’t be afraid to play then ETSOO as nec!!
Wow, wow, wow!!! That is a fantastic capture -- I love the windmill, the blue hour in the sky. It's terrific! I can't see it during the blue hour -- here it starts showing up about 11:30 pm, when the sky is almost black. I really like how it looks here.
