My mother (@aikimomm), who as many of you know is a huge fan of ravens, tells me legend has it that they were all once white until they were turned black for badly misbehaving. While stopped for a food break while on the way to the Eastern Sierra we were blessed to come across this leucistic crow hanging out nearby. Not quite an albino, but very rare indeed--What an amazing start to a vacation with good friends!
~Update~ This bird has caused quite the sensation in the local birding scene, and it turns out it is actually a raven as we first suspected, not a crow. Hard to tell the differnce sometimes!
Thanks for stopping by, all. I have been missing in action for some time now, maybe this trip will inspire me to post more frequently again... :-)
Me too .. great white on white. How odd you posted this! I put up a leucistic red tail hawk yesterday. Until then I'd never seen a bird with this condition.
