Minimal 6 - May challenge by alia_801

Minimal 6 - May challenge

Keeping up the eraser mini-series, here's Dotty, friend of Olly and Ducky...

Annoyingly I didn't have any red paper, and couldn't quite seem to lose the texture and wrinkles in the fabric...

Look out tomorrow for Trevor :)

Nice one - amazing how the texture shows in the fabric :)

lol great stuff, you should try putting Dotty on a green background though. The red on red is kind of like a ginger in an orange tee shirt!
May 25th, 2012
@teamoliver I did think of green, but Olly was on blue, and Ducky was on yellow... I didn't want Dottie to feel left out! (Might have helped if I'd found the right shade of red though!)

I like this color on color and the comments that you made about keeping them all uniform. I would have never thought of doing that, smart.

I think it's an interesting contrast between the texture in the fabric and lack of texture in the eraser.
May 25th, 2012
I like the composition

Very cute. He looks great on the red background.

Love you May minimal series. They are cute ,nicely captured , funny and very creative

I like the red material background. I might have made the nap as straight as possible. My mind wants to straighten the lines. But I like it!

Thanks, I have never read about these challenges and competitions but your shots just made me do that and they are very interesting. Perhaps I will join in...:)

@tooki Challenges are great - Pick out one that interests you and give it a go :) (I've been doing them non-stop since last June...) They take some of the pressure out of finding a pic, let you focus on one thing, and make it a bit easier to put up a pic you don't find 'perfect' - as long as it fullfils the challenge you can post it :)
@olivetreeann and I have made up a few challenges now, and we have a little 365 challenge posse - it's lots of fun seeing what other people come up with for the same word or idea :)

@alia_801 I guess it's time to think about June! I've really enjoyed this weekly themed type of challenge. There's a June Word Challenge posted on the home page, but it doesn't have a word for every day. What are you leaning towards?
May 26th, 2012
lovely colour and shadows!
May 27th, 2012
@olivetreeann I haven't thought too much yet - I guess I should do something interesting as it will be my 1-year challenge anniversary on 1st June :)
I quite like the weekly challenge too - some focus but lots of room to be creative...
I tried some J words, but they're not very inspiring... Jungle, Juice, Jingle, Jelly, Jovial
Hmmm - June is the 6th month of the year - maybe we should have a '6' theme? Any ideas?

the wrinkles in the fabric add to the overall composition of the photo. i love it.

suggestion for a june challenge - why don't we pick out names, randomly, and the challenge would be to photograph something that either befits the name (a person, a thing, etc) or reminds one of something associated with that name. e.g., when i hear the name 'anna' or 'hanna' i think of a banana; or when i see a really good looking boat at the marina, i think of howard steele most of the time; these days whenever i see a colourful parrot, i think of you, alia. just throwing ideas out there.
