Perth has an impressive collection of large bells, which it amassed from various churches (mostly in the UK) that needed to replace theirs (either the bells were damaged, or were damaging the buildings they were housed in). Through clever leasing and exchanges, a collector in Perth managed to appropriate the historic bells for the city. In 2000 a special building was commissioned as part of a wider project to revitalise some parts of the city. The result is an amazing building with iron sails and a tall glass spire. For a small fee, you can visit, ring some of the bells and explore the little museum inside.
