Quokka by alia_801

Quokka

We visited Rottnest Island today. It's home to 10000 quokkas (voted the happiest animal in the world!), thanks largely to past eradication of predators such as feral cats. Most of the quokkas sleep in the day, but enough humans feed them that some roam around in the daytime. We went on a tour where the guide showed us what they eat, so we could feed them native plants, rather than the pies and muffins they scrounged in the shopping strip!
Amazing - I have never read about or even heard about these sweet animals. Why are they called the happiest animals in the world? Nice capture of the catchlight in his/her eye!
