Our students are such creatures of the digital age, they have had little experience with the print encyclopedia. In introducing this format to 4th graders, I point out that it is arranged in alphabetical order and that World Book makes it easy to tell if any volume is out of sequence. Can you spot the misaligned volume?
Nice pic, but there's a problem with your tag and your pic isn't showing up with all the other theme-oddoneout entries. Not seen a World Book set like that for quite a while :)
Thanks for the heads-up. I changed the tag so, hopefully, it will be included in this week's collection. You are right about the rarity of a print encyclopedia. Using guide words is a real challenge for some and others actually prefer the print edition after it has been introduced. We're all about flexibility!
I really prefer physical editions of things like this. A friend of mine is a school librarian and she just despairs at the lack of understanding of the printed medium, sometimes from surprising quarters. They just recently moved to a brand new building with all new resources and the management were horrified that she was insisting on taking the card catalogue with her. I mean, *why* would someone want to use old-tech when they were providing shiny new catalogue terminals?
Anyway, your photo is now showing up amongst all the other theme entries, so whatever it was that was broken is fixed :)
