I was surprised to see a clothesline and kitchen garden in a neighbor's backyard. Both of these are unusual in my suburban neighborhood. In fact, it reminded me of my backyard when I was growing up. I decided to go with the nostalgic mood by converting the image to sepia and adding the old-time photo corners.
I think as more people are concerned about being "green" clotheslines are making a come back. I know my one daughter-in-law wants to put one up in her backyard at some point for that reason. I've often thought it'd be fun to have one too, but then I think about the bird feeder and realize the clothes line might be in the line of fire! Love your nostalgic processing-it's perfect for this shot.
the sepia toning work really well allison. this image does indeed have a retro feel to it.
We still hang our washing out on lines in England, you've probably seen a few of my shots with the washing pegs on the line :)
BTW : Thanks for all the comments on my holiday / vacation images last night...I had a little flurry of email alerts on my phone telling me allison had commented on my pics ...your support, friendship and kind comment on my 365 project is very much appreciated.
You captured this nostalgic scene just beautifully with the sepia tones. This looks like a photo from the 50s. How cool that some people still hang out their wash!
It looks like a yard from my childhood -- the sepia tone is perfect. Here in the new city of Columbia, we are not allowed to have clotheslines, chain link fences, or glass balls in our gardens. They were aesthetically distasteful to columbia's planning board.
