This afternoon our two plenary sessions were as different as night and day. The first speaker was a mathematician demonstrating geometric principles. After a short break we convened in the garden to hear David Benedictus read from his own works. Eighty years ago Winnie the Pooh was first published, and last year Benedictus composed a book titled Return to the Hundred Acre Wood. Reading about Piglet, Pooh, and Christopher Robin, he sounded as though he was channeling the spirit of A.A. Milne. I am eager to buy this book for our collection. He captured the spirit of each well-loved character so well.
