It turns out Teacher Appreciation Day was really Teacher Appreciation Week! This First Grader, all spiffed up with water-combed hair and madras shorts, was on his way to show his teachers how much he cared, while I was on the trail of a photo op to which one of my scouts had alerted me. I stopped to open the door for him, and my reward was this timeless portrait.
