I am a tea drinker, but I had never seen or even heard of blooming tea until I found a basket of these little packets in the teachers' room. I didn't have a clue as to what to do with the compact ball on the left. So today I was preparing a cup of tea using a conventional tea bag when I decided to take a chance and toss one of these items in the boiling water. Within a few seconds the flower -- for that is what it was -- opened up in the water and a fragrance drifted into the air. It also lost a bunch of petals which floated around in the cup. I ended my experiment by pouring out the water and making myself a fresh cup of tea with my original tea bag. I didn't care for the aroma and I do like a strong cuppa black tea, but at least my curiosity has been satisfied.
