Up til now I've been sharing the scenic highlights from my recent visit to New Orleans, but I don't want you to think I just went as a tourist. Much of my visit was spent at schools, learning best practices from some amazing librarians. We shared books, facility design, trends in curriculum and program, and even had a chance to meet a library mascot. So much to see and remember and bring back to my own library! (But not the mascot.)
I love visiting libraries and learn from each one -- and I have been to a LOT of libraries in New Orleans. That one on the lower left, wasn't it funded by the Laura Bush Foundation?
That was the Lower School library at The Academy of the Sacred Heart. We visited independent schools, including Trinity Episcopal, Metairie Country Day and Isadore Newman, all great schools.
