Although I did not go to church for the imposition of ashes which our pastor was doing outside the front doors, I participated in the online service and was moved by this very thoughtful program.
So much has changed in the pandemic. Our church has had masses broadcast on a radio frequency and people can sit in their cars and then receive communion under a portico. I was planning to do that today and receive ashes, but we had a bad (for Louisiana) freeze and I did not even do that. Ashes this year were sprinkled and not but on foreheads.
It is wonderful that the service is online. What a difference from last year as it was a sprinkling of the ashes on the top of ones head at our parish.
