When my neighbor saw me lurking around the pool yesterday, camera in hand, she pointed me toward this cactus in bloom. It is not your usual landscaping feature in Richmond, Virginia
Beautiful yellow bloom.
Catcus is not the regular landscape feature here in Maryland either; but last week-end when I was out with my sister looking for cemetery art I noticed that there were catcus in beautiful blooms growing along the very back edge of the cemetery.
Very nice. I like how you included a bit of the pads in the picture too. This is one of many different kinds of prickly pear. The pads and the fruit are edible, but you have to remove the needles and skin first.
Pretty flower. My sister has a big patch of cactus growing in her yard in western New York state...so I guess some types are heartier than you would expect.
