Inspired by the Egyptians

Turning my attention to our kitchen renovation, I have been looking for possible backsplash choices. Yesterday's visit to the museum led me to the wall of Egyptian tiles on the bottom. Do you think the sample circled in the top picture is a good substitute? No hieroglyphics, but that's okay; I prefer simplicity.
The texture and color are right on target...lovely! I envy you the frequency with which you've visited museums!

I love the sample. It would make a great backsplash. I'm a sucker for ancient Egypt anything.

They look good, love the matt and textured look but would they be hard to keep clean?

@kjarn I can't speak for the originals, but according to the salesman, when the modern tiles are installed, they are covered with some kind of a finish to protect them and make them easy to clean. (I had the same question.)

Well I say go for it then.

I love the look, but how porous are they and how easy is it to clean them?
