What a tale I have to accompany these pictures! I decided to get a head start on my duties at school by slipping over this afternoon and beating the Monday morning crowds. Naturally I wasn't the only one who had the idea; there were several stacks of books selected by teachers for me to check out. I turned on one of the computers, and as I was waiting for it to complete its start up, my eyes fell on the series of post it notes you see in the bottom picture. They were stuck on top of the little poster you can see in the upper photo. Let me transcribe the message I read on the notes:
"The children depicted in this timeline are obviously suffering from a disruptive obsessive disorder that is sure to mould them into antisocial, low functioning adults with a fragmented sense of reality. Focus on maintaining meaningful relationships with friends, family and even co-workers [?] may too easily fall to the wayside and inhibit the ability to construct a needed social support network. It happened to me and it will happen to them if they don't get help now."
Please encourage these children to practice safe reading, in responsible moderation!"
I don't know if this is a cry for help or an attempt at humor. I do wonder who got into our secure building to leave this anonymous warning.
Yes, that's a little strange! You can't tell whether it's supposed to be funny or is some sort of veiled threat. Perhaps the principal should see it, just in case...???
Oh yeah, reading is definitely dangerous to your health. We wouldn't want to nurture too many enlightened minds would we. It all sounds a bit strange to me too. It is worth a little investigating. Hopefully it is in fun.
