The youth group of our church participated in a program titled the 30 Hour Famine created by World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.
Students learn about hunger and fundraise to help feed and care for children living in poverty. On Famine weekend, students get up close and personal with hunger by going 30 hours without food. Our teenagers raised enough money to provide food for four families of four for a year. During the weekend they created the table runner you see here on the communion table, inspired by what they learned. Sunday morning, when they had completed their fast, they were especially appreciative of the breakfast provided by the men of the church.
