The Butterfly Whisperer by alophoto

The Butterfly Whisperer

My Emily was a butterfly whisperer in a butterfly garden recently. A monarch landed on a nearby flower and she went right over to see it up close. I was happy that I was quick to the draw with the camera for a change and got one shot off before it flew away.

The colors were glaringly bright, so I thought that I would try some selective coloring this time. This is my 3rd attempt at the SC process. It's gotten easier each time luckily as the first time was a royal pain in the rump.
One shot was all you needed! Great shot and nice use of sc!

Beautiful, I'm glad you didn't crop your daughter out of the shot as it gives it more meaning. I took my kids on a hike this summer and saw varieties of butterflies that I'd never seen before, in addition to lots of monarchs.

Beautiful shot and love your SC and like that you caught a bit of Emily in your photo. How do you get such a clear shot in one shot. I am terrible with butterfly shots though I have not seen many so have not taken many. Are you on Auto or Manual on your camera? FAV

@kamb Thanks so much, Karen!

@automaticslim Aw, thank you. I couldn't go straight color (it was blinding), desaturated was blah and b&w wouldn't have done it justice. I just had to do it:).
January 27th, 2013
Woah. I'm not much of a wildlife/animal guy but this takes the biscuit. Perfect use of selective b&w, fav for me.
