Fading into Oblivion by alophoto

Fading into Oblivion

I was drawn to these rusty squares on our walk in the sunshine today. You know you are a photographer when you are attracted to weird stuff like this. I was pleased with the way that they faded into nothingness. Sometimes achieving dof works for me...sometimes not. It's a crap shoot. I love the times when I shoot on target. I wish that I could always get the shot I want and knew the proper formula to make the magic.

This shot in my extra album is somewhat of a screw up, but pretty cool none the less: http://365project.org/amandalomonaco/themes-challeng/2013-02-24
If you knew the formula would it still be magic? Would you get bored? I really like the dog that you have here and the tones. I always like the ones I have to work for the most.

@cdonohoue Thanks, lady! I don't know...you are probably right. Though I wouldn't mind if the magic happened for me more often.

You have a good eye for light and pattern. I agree with Cathy.

I think it would be boring if you just set the dials and snapped and it always came out correctly! I like the randomness of what might be good and what generally isn't!

Pretty light and lines. It feels warm and spring like!!

I'll join the random magic bunch, it is wonderful when it happens.

Love the repeating lines and angles. Beautiful lighting too.

Fabulous linear qualities and pattern

great shot. consider entering it for the Eye of the Beholder challenge?
February 25th, 2013
great pov. I agree, enter it into eye of the beholder.

Nice! This is similar to my shot recently if a fading fence. Must be something about being cooped up inside for too long!
February 25th, 2013
Great shot!

Great lines, focus, dof and fade. nice work. I understand what you mean - there are days I thought I captured great images only to find they are all rubbish. And then there are days that something magical happens . This is the life of a photographer!

Nice DOF and POV :)
February 25th, 2013
I know what you mean, if only it worked all the time!
Great dof, pov and warm feel to this.

I love your comment about dof being a crap shoot. It always is and I don't understand why. It shouldn't be so difficult. Love this - it's not so easy to focus on the thin fence wire. What is it about rust and photography. So many of us seem to be drawn to it.

What a awesome shot! Love the focus and POV

I definitely understand that attraction. I am FOREVER thinking, "WHOA! That'd make a really cool shot!" with even the most mundane of things. Definitely, definitely get it.

@copperheadglass Thanks so much, sweet lady. That means a lot to me:)!

@maggiemae True words, Maggiemae. How about this...I wish that I knew better for it to work out as I would like more often than it does. I still don't know enough... Thanks for the encouragement, lady!:)

@kwind It was a springy day. Today, too. I am enjoying it while I can!! Thanks!

@tonydebont It is so nice. I just wish that it happened more often for me. Thanks, Tony!

@pflaume Thanks so much, sweet lady!

@paul2782 Thanks, Mr. Paul!

@brav I so entered this one. Thanks for the reminder and the comments, Richard! Did you win the first one? Your shot was amazing for it.

@lfrans Thanks, lady. I did:)!

@archaeofrog How funny that we were on the same track a day or so apart. Thanks, lady! SO so nice to get outside yesterday!

@paulien Thanks, Paulien!

@soboy5 I just want more magic than rubbish...is that too much to ask?! I still have more to learn...we all do, I guess.:) Thanks, Danny!

@ozziehoffy Thanks, Cassandra.

@happysnap Sheesh, why does it have to be so hard?! Thanks, Linda. Did I get this in in time for eotb3?

@barbsmith Man, rust rocks...there is just something about it. Unless it's on your car;-). Glad that you can relate and it's not just me. Thanks, Barb!! I look forward to the day when it works out more often than not.

@kbalychev Thanks so much, Kimberly!! You are sweet!

@istacy1011 Aw, so glad that you do. I am sure that non photographers think we are nuts when they see us taking shots of strange stuff like this. Last year I got one looking up a brick wall and I am sure I looked like a freak! But I just don't care!! Thanks, lady!

@amandakay129 Thanks so much, Amanda. Funny how a rusty old fence came be interesting. Maybe not outside the photography world, though.
February 26th, 2013
Really great DOF in this! I love the lines in this shot!
February 26th, 2013
Well, I think you got this just right.
February 26th, 2013

February 27th, 2013
@emrob Thanks, Miss Mandy!

@automaticslim I was pleased with it here. I just want it to do this when I want it to (stomps foot;-).

@jsw0109 Yep, for the kids when they are bad. JUST KIDDING!!!! Sheesh, hope that I didn't have you there even for a second. It's the wire along a split rail wooden fence to keep a pet in the yard. Thanks, Jeff.

@jsw0109 We are thinking of meeting up next weekend (as in March 9 or 10). I'll keep you posted.
