Today's shot was NOT taken by me and is more of a diary type photo.
This is our after photo of the Run for the Green mud run/5K that my running buddy, Jen, Michael and I participated in this morning. It was a really hard run for me. I am not accustomed to running on trails, or through mud or running through knee deep creeks. I bit it and landed on the trail on my hands once (surprised that it was only once). I felt often times like a cartoon character unable to find my footing or get grip on the muddy ground. And was hyperventilating like an asthmatic near the end.
As hard as it was and as bad as I've felt for the hours afterward, it was fun and I plan to do more races this year. It was amazing to be in an organized running event again. It had been 4+ years since my last race and 11 years since I'd run in a 5K. Loved the fun atmosphere and camaraderie.
Looks like you guys had a great time. Congrats. Sounds like a lot of fun. I did the Tough Mudder two years ago, totally know how you feel. Awesome achievement. Great expressions too. LOL Have a drink on me. :)
@losthorizon A Tough Mudder would be great fun. We have a mudathalon this summer, but it was $80 per person, so maybe not now. There is a whole series of "dirt" events for $10 per which is much easier to handle. We hope to do more this year. And guess what I made to celebrate with last night?! A mudslide. I saw that you all are going to travel to PA a bunch this year. We are one state away. Maybe sometime our families could meet up in Philly for a cheesestake and a photo day:). I hear that the Liberty Bell is photogenic;-).
@maggiemae That sounds like fun, Maggiemae. Laughing through the race. I was hyperventilating from exertion. 5K isn't much, but under the muddy circumstances, it was.
@anazad511 It was nice to have the day off of photos, too. I was pooped! Thanks, Ana!:)
@softbootsailer It was a blast, Bob. There are events all throughout the year and we are hoping to do more. One is called the Powder Keg and is at the nearby Kings mansion (of local powder fame).
@malc I didn't mind the dirtiness of it, but man, is mud tough to run through/in. Very sticky and slippery! Thanks, Malc!
@masosy It was, though a bit painful and messy. Thanks, Kate!!
@paula365 Doing running events is so much fun. And especially so with friends. Find a local race and grab a friend. You will have a blast!!:) Yeah to be getting back into running again, too!
@frida Love your description of your relationship with running. They often have walking including in the race events. There was the option to be a muddy walker. Events whether walking or running are so much fun. Thanks, my friend!
@bardejov Definitely. There are a whole series of them this year. We plan to do more. I need trail shoes for the next one, though. Thanks, lady!
@vickisfotos Oh shoot, what a bummer. I've never had a race sell out, though I didn't get picked in a lottery to do a marathon once. It turned out to be a good thing, though, as I got pregnant soon thereafter and would have been really far along for the race. No thanks! Thanks, Vicki. Hope you get into your race next time!
@adamj Thanks, Adam. I put on my game face. I can't believe how hard it was for me. A 5K is normally nothing for me. Next time I need some trail shoes.
@tammeray Aw, thanks, lady! It was fun. Great challenge. I hope to get downtown this week for some great architecture. I've meant to do that for weeks, so thanks for the push to get there:).
@jodimuli Aw, thanks so much, Jodi. It was fun. Grateful for the follow back:)!
we as it turned out it poured rain and some hail today...so not too worried about not making the race this year. Can you imagine what my green wig would have looked like? lol
Looks like you had a load of muddy fun! :) I have done a few of these as well and they are so very addicting :) Keep on getting out there darling :) Love the facial expression as well! :)
@amandal Love the mudslide idea. Great victory drink. Lol.
Definitely hoping to make it Pennsy a few times this year if we can. In May I'll be joining the EMS Memorial Bike Ride again. Starting in Maine, ending in Philly. I'm hoping to do at least the last 3 or 4 days. We average about 100 cyclists, makes for a great photo op if you're in the area around that time. But either way, a meet up sounds like fun. We'll have to work in it. Even see if any other 365ers are in the area.
Ha ha! Love the epressions and congrats on doing the race! I've never been a runner, but am actually trying to take it up a little for the first time. I'd love to run a 5k sometime so that's what I'm working toward. Ha ha...got a long way to go! Stupid endurance!
@emrob You'll get there, Mandy. Just a little bit at a time. I got into running because I hated it. 20 years later and it is one of my loves and joys in life. I mostly like the social aspect. I usually run with a friend. Looking forward to hearing about your 5K:)!
@amandal Yeah, I've got one of those C25K apps on my phone. I did a bit of it last year and got to the point where I ran 20 minutes straight once, but then fizzled and never went on. So I'm starting back at the beginning and I'm just taking it slower, moving to the next intensity level as I feel I'm ready and it feels good! I'll get there again. Just like I'm planning on succeeding in this photo project this time around, I'll make it to my 5K even if takes me a long while!
Glad you're back in the "running high" again!! I don't know what I would do with out my running time... it's my quite time and me time :) Hugging a fellow runner and friend!! Great job on your race :) You go girl!!
@sistawood You know as I read that, I don't think that I get the high anymore? Maybe I don't run far enough? Maybe I've run for too long? High or not, I still love it, though. What makes me sad is that my long distance days are through. I ran in one marathon...one of my best life experiences...and got arthritis in my knees from improperly training.:( Thanks for your sweet words. Wish we could do a race together. You, Kimberly and I...that would be so fun. Happy weekend, friend!
@amandal aw, that stinks about your knees ... Marathons are brutal on your body!!! I have only done one and that was good enough for me!! I run 1/2 marathons now!! The last one was in Nov. and it tore up my knees too from not being able to train in time! I hear you!! Wouldn't that be awesome to do a run together ... the three amigos ...hehe :)

As your get pushed challenge I challenge you to take an architectural shoot of a prominent building where you live :)
