Here's my little Clara sitting by her Aunt Katie on the ferry between the mainland in St. Ignace, MI and Mackinac Island last week. It's amazing to me to see how grown up she looks with her expressions, sunglasses, sassy clothes (I'm conservative, but she's in animal print here) and even her big personality. She is just a little girl. Only 4.
Yesterday I was back to school shopping for her brother and sister and realized that next year, I will be shopping for her, too. This is my last year with this little girl all to myself. Only a short amount of time left before she goes off into the world like her siblings. While I will enjoy the time to myself when she goes, I am sure, though thought of it makes me feel a little sad (it will have been 9+ years solid with kids at home). I'm going to enjoy and treasure every last ounce of this year with her. My Clara. Little Miss Thing.
Her deep thoughts here were probably: "What's for lunch?" or "Do these sunglasses clash with the leopard print? Hmmmm..."
@sbolden We are not fashionable people. Clara wears mostly hand me downs. Just given fancy things, I guess. But what an ensemble she had that day. Thank you!
What a wonderful capture of your daughter, Amanda. Love what you write as always and love her outfit and sunglasses. Super clear shot. You and your camera are doing fantastic photography. FAV
Beautiful shot. I love the little finger in the corner of her mouth in a contemplative way. Make the most of them when they're little Amanda as the time goes so quickly. My youngest (almost 17) has just received his results from his first year at college! I can't believe that the last of my four babies is almost grown up xx
@darsphotos Thank you for faving my little lady. I loved this shot of her and her sassiness. Such depth of character and personality for so little a thing:)!
Thank you all for your lovely comments on this fun, contemplative candid of Clara. I love how this captures her. One of my favorite photos of her in awhile, I think:)!
I faved this a couple of days ago but haven't had time to come back and leave my comment. I had a very similar conversation the other day with my partner about how our little man is turning 5 next month and it feels a very significant age. He will not be a baby anymore. Things are slightly different for us because he has been going to school for nearly two years already but if we were still in Australia he would be starting next year. Things are moving forward too fast I feel.
@thirtysevenways I am NOT ready for 5. They need to slow down. Sending her off to school will be tough. So glad I have her all to myself to enjoy this year. Thanks so much for your comments and fav. I was telling my hubby last night that I think that our families would be friends should we ever hang out. Happy week!
@seanoneill There are days when I'd say yes. Not today, though. If you all were close by, I'd let you borrow her for a day perhaps:). Thank you, my friend. I missed you around.
@amandal Mine are the same, even at 6ft tall!! They are mostly great though. In this shot Clara looks A+dorable :) I had a lovely conversation with twin girls called Lola and Grace at the Train Station in London on saturday evening. They made me smile, they were so talkative and wanted to tell me about there day in London. It was a lovely 5 minute chat.
@seanoneill Little girls are soooooooo gregarious. As in, they don't shut up! Ever. Pretty precious, though. I hope that you get a granddaughter someday in the wayyyy future. It will be fun for you to experience girls. I wonder if I will have any 6 ft tall kids? Mike is that tall and I am not even close. They will probably be shrimpy. I so love this kid...it's cool when you have one that favors you.:) Do your boys look like you or Rebecca or both?
@amandal Sam very much looks like me and Ben to an extent, but they both have Rebecca's blonde hair. As for grand kids, I'd like as many as possible!! One day......I hope so for Rebecca too, someone to be girly with!
She looks like she's pondering something important...which chic restaurant to dine at tonight? Or which boy she will let take her to the prom? LOL
"Jimmy's hot, but Kevin has that really cool sportscar." ;-)
It's wonderful that you've had her at home all these years. I'm glad you're cognizant of how fleeting time is, and you're cherishing these years while you have them.
