This was a shot that I absolutely loved from our Michigan vacation. My local 365 friend, Katie, had recommended a lumberjack show to us in the area where we were staying. I am so glad we went, because watching the lumberjacks compete was tons of fun. It was my kids highlight from the trip, too!
This one totally looks like he was posing for my shot. Loved the positioning. He was getting ready to climb on that diagonal piece of wood and chop down the wood block up higher. I forget his real name, but his nickname was "The Squirrel." He's a world class climbing champion and got up and down a telephone pole in mere seconds. Amazing skill, he had!
I've had a very good week on here...two PP's after a bit of a dry spell. Thank you for your help with that:).
But the lumberjack tells me, it's time to cut out the crazy and spend less time on here. Still trying for better balance and mostly failing. I think that I struggle more as I am home alone with kids all day (no coworkers) and this has become my social outlet. I also like getting all of the positive reinforcement for my work.
Here's my favorite lumberjack ditty to bring a smile to your face below! I was so surprised that they didn't play this at the show:). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL7n5mEmXJo
It is hard to find a balance... I have had to try and limit myself to an hour on 365 a day now which has meant I have had to stop reply to all my comments as it was just taking so long to reply individually. I am sure you will find a way to juggle everything. Well done on your PP's too :-)))
I love this photo... awesome pose, if it not intentionally 'posed'. Isn't it great when that happens. Sounds like it was a fun event to attend, and the 'The Squirrel' sounds fascinating. :)
Brilliant! I so knew the link was going to be to the Monty Python sketch! I know exactly what you mean about the social outlet side of 365 I was just thinking this morning aside from the photography this project reminds me of when I was at work full time, many years ago. We would laugh at each others jokes and console and support each other when times were difficult, I'm sure a psychologist would have a field day with this. I suppose it's all about finding the balance as you say. Ps yes it could so be a photo in a lumberjack calendar - not that I've ever seen one of those!
Wow, he does look like he was posing =))) well captured Amanda =) and thank you for broadening our (well probably just mine, but still) horizon =) i never knew about lamberjack show. i do now!
Glad to hear the lumberjack show was fun. We tried to go to one in Pigeon Forge, TN. But it was already booked up. Great shot! He does look
like he was posing.
@masosy That is exactly what he was doing...great observation, my friend. Hey, your fav didn't take on the King Midas sunrise shot the other day, if you have time to check it again:). I hate when I forget or hit it too hard and undo it.
@masosy Ah, of course. Thank you so much, Kate. Sheesh what a crazy week. Your kids back in school yet? Mine went back last week and the quieter days are soooo nice!
I homeschool my youngest but the older two go back to school next week. I desparately miss them when they are gone but it will be nice to have a bit more structure around here.
@eyesmile Oh Gena, you should have seen the other one. This one was squirrely compared to him. But yeah, the ax and plaid does do something for him. So much fun!!:)))
fabulous shot... and i so LOVE that monty python clip ;)
yeah - balance is important... i actually sent myself a bunch of reminders reminding me of the NON-365 things i need to do tonight... i'm already delinquent... sigh...
Hey guys, thanks so much for your great comments and encouragement. So glad that you liked the Monty Python clip, too. So fun. I guess that the women's clothing bit made it not such a good fit for the show, but it would have added some humor, that's for sure.:)) Hey, Katie posted a link of this guy here at the top of the climbing pole if you want to see a more action and less calendar looking shot: http://365project.org/katiebrenkert/365/2013-08-25 Thanks again...really appreciate all of you!
What an awesome shot, Amanda and love once again what you wrote. Sounds like a lot of fun. They used to televise stuff like this years ago but have not seen anything like it in a long time. Was so cool to watch them. Nice you got to in real life and snap some photos. Such a clear shot also. You and your camera are taking awesome photos by the way.

like he was posing.
@masosy I know what you mean. How old is the youngest? Clara is mine and she starts Kindergarten next year. I will be a wreck sending her off.

@darsphotos It was super cool to watch them in lumberjack action. Thanks so much, sweet friend!
