I LOVE the way water sparkles in certain light. I see it only occasionally and made it a goal a few months back to capture it sometime. Out on a recent jog with Clara, I thankfully had my camera along when I saw the sparkling diamonds on the water. I found a place to park the stroller and looked around for walkers/people. I noticed these two ladies, squatted down, tried to look busy and not like a creeper and snapped this quickly.
When I downloaded the images, I wasn't happy with any of them. But then I played some with editing and was pleased with the result. And I like that this is keeping with my sunshiny theme for the past few days.
It struck me that these two were missing the diamonds. So caught up in bashing their husbands, complaining about their kids or talking about waiting on the mall elevator, that they were oblivious to the beauty sparkling right before them. One was even pointing to the diamonds, but looking straight ahead...not in the right direction.
I was chatting with a friend in yoga class this weekend about photography and how it helps you to see the world better. She and I are planning a photo date soon.
May we not miss the diamonds that are before us. May our eyes be open to beauty. May we all be blessed today!
Busy start to my week today, and go! Hope yours are going well.
Love your image and your closing lines, share your views... each moment there are jewels if we only care to see.... hope many diamonds come your way...
Beautiful shot! And your words are very true! I have noticed that about myself since I started 365 - I am always looking around for great pictures, therefore I see much more than I was before.
@httpgeffed Soooo glad to hear that you are blessed:). Me, too. I have to remind myself of that at times, but it is so the truth. Loved your wonderful comments! Thank you!
@rennes Diamond water is the best. I'd take it over a stupid rock any day. I'd take a new lens over both;-). Thanks so much, Lisa.
@snaggy Really appreciate your kind words and fav. I love to edit. It's part of the art of it. Most don't need much, but some like this need more and that is AOK by me. Thanks, Kev! I love having photographers eyes:). Not only do I see more of life's beauty, but the blessings, too.
Wise words, Miss! and beautiful processing!!! I especially love the acusatory finger and the bird that I assume is attached to the top of the rotunda thingy...??
Nice silhouettes. I often describe the simple wonders of nature to my friends and they reply that I see things they never look for because I am a photographer.
@zambianlass I was at the lake and saw it again in the morning and a biker road through the diamonds. Could have been an awesome shot, but no camera this time. Thanks!
@tabbycat Your comments are great. Accusing finger. So so true. The bird is attached. I can't seem to stop photographing this dang gazebo. It's close to home and I walk and run around it a bunch. My mom told me that I need to make a calendar out of all of my gazebo shots. Enough of it already;-)!!
@amandal busy and uninspired! I am trying to get back into this. my camera has been sitting collecting dust for far too long. looks like you are still having a blast. :)
@megmills Come on over and we can take a walk. I am there all the time. Wanna run with me on Saturday? Maybe we can do a lake walk next week...Monday or Tuesday? Thanks!
@archaeofrog Thanks, Katie. Great words. I love that about photography. It has been so good for me in certain regards anyway.
@paulaw I love shiny sparkly things...especially lenses:). Thanks, lady!
@fueast It has been cooling down and feeling more fally, but then gets hot again. Looking forward to the pretty change in leaves and the break from the hot! Thanks!
@pflaume Thanks, Lisa. I'm getting rather sick of it. My mom said to me the day I posted this that I should make a calendar of all of my gazebo shots. My shot from the dock was a dock off of the same place. I just can't seem to stay away. It's along my normal walk/jog path that I do probably once a day. Looking forward to new locations for the sunrise, but not so much the getting up earlier to get there...this is 5 minutes from home.:)
@seanoneill It's nuts...it's the sunrise thing that I just started doing. It's all about the right light. I can't much get on PP to save my life anymore. Last week it took nearly 40 faves to get me there. Thanks so much, Sean. Hope to get a good and different sunrise shot this week.:)
Wonderful photograph and backstory. I'm new to photography and this project and I agree that its already changing how I view things...I can't imagine how much further different it will be in a few years.
@rellimdj I love what it has done to my eyes. I see so much now and am so much more grateful for the little things and the beauty that is all around me. Welcome to 365. I think you will love it!
This project has definitely broadened my horizons too
@bobfoto I prefer the nice to be the double i variety. How was your elevator wait? Maddening? And thanks for real:).
Know what you mean about photography making you see the world differently - I see things I would have never have noticed 12 months ago.
@rennes Diamond water is the best. I'd take it over a stupid rock any day. I'd take a new lens over both;-). Thanks so much, Lisa.
