When I stopped by the horse farm, I was so excited to see the horses out and grazing in the field. They lined up for me perfectly, too, framing themselves between the trees. Gotta love cooperative subjects!!
The slumber party went pretty well, despite one little one needing to go home and the girls having a bit of trouble getting to bed (and getting up at 5 something in the morning). We also were able to crack the coconut open with a machette today (thanks to the very helpful and thorough instructions from @bobfoto) and got to try it out. It was pretty good, but different from the shredded version you can buy prepackaged. A fun thing to try, though. We plan to use the rest of the meat for smoothies.
Hope that you all are having a terrific weekend. Please forgive my lack of comments and response lately. I'm swimming in parties, exhaustion, house hunting and life. Hope to catch up soon!
Ah, yes. Coconuts. When I was in high school, I accompanied my Puerto Rican girlfriend and her mother to Puerto Rico to paint her uncle's apartment. (Random, in retrospect.) While my girlfriend and I were sitting on the beach (evidently we didn't paint the whole time), a boy climbed a tree and brought us a coconut. I don't know where her mom was, (who'd grown up there and would've known what to do), but I remember spending a heck of a long time trying to figure out how to get into it, and finishing up with a hammer and screwdriver.
Life before Google. :^)
Oh, and Fav on the photo. Love the diagonal line, the horses in their spots, and the way you got the light of the shade and the sun into balance.
@fueast Thanks, Alison. The leaves are really starting to change. Wish that they had been more dramatic, though, for the theme. How are yours coming along?
@rennes Thanks, Lisa! We had a great weekend! Hope you did, too!
@chezza You are very kind, Cheryl. Thanks so much!
@deniseescovino Really appreciate your kind comments, Denise!!
@wendyhgill I seem to be pretty good with animals. They tend to do well for me with photos. I was pretty far away, but loved how they lined up for me!! Thanks, Wendy!
@northy Breathing! Thanks for the reminder. Doing better this week. And the sketchy place is maybe even still a possibility and our favorite. Who cares if it's structurally sound, it's a good price;-). The engineer who checked it out today wasn't too concerned.
@squamloon Jim, that is a hilarious story. Isn't it crazy to image and remember life before google and the internet. Remember looking things up in encyclopedias and using a dictionary...and a phone book?! How did we survive? Thanks so very much for your wonderful comments and fav, too. I thought of your photos today when I was shooting fall on our lake. I took one very similar to some of your recents but went with something completely different. People are complaining that it is making them sick. Oh well.:)
@gozoinklings That's what I was thinking, Catherine. Thank you! kindly:)
@fishy Aw, thanks, Andrew. Glad that this one wasn't sickening:). Really appreciate the fav!

Glad the party went well. I'm not a fan of the coconut milk when you open a fresh coconut. We had them in Ghana and I didn't enjoy them but love the meat part of the coco. Just like Jason we have them all over the place here.
@amandal Thanks so much for your thoughts. Mostly doing ok, with lots of mood swings and showers of tears, but plenty of sunshine when thinking about happy times too.
Glad the party and coconut eating went well! : ))
