Yesterday we went for a snowy hike at a nearby woods. The kids and dog had a great time playing in the snow and I got some photos of the natural beauty. Michael got annoyed with me, though and asked me finally to put the camera away and be with the family. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in what is not important, focused on the wrong things that really have no bearing on my life. Wish that I was better at that. Still figuring out my balance and trying to put first and focus on the important things.
LOVED the time of day and how the sun was hitting the snowy path and making it glow. And thought that the rainbow in the flare was pretty cool, too. I am on a flare kick of late. Funny how we go through phases, my last was reflections, I wonder what I will be onto next.
Tomorrow is our sub zero, snow covered freeze fest. I'm guessing that the kids will be off of school for a snow day. Hope we can come up with fun things to do indoors and that our heat keeps cranking away. For those of you in winter climates, stay warm, and for everyone else...keep cool.
Oh dear, that camera getting you into trouble again? Fact is, photography is important to you, Amanda, as it is to a lot us. But you're right about striking the balance - that's the key.
Lovely shot, btw - love the multicoloured flare! Fav.
Magical shot Amanda! I don't have little ones,so I can only imagine the difficulty. If I did I think the only way I wouldn't be snapping away is if I left the camera home.Maybe have camera free days and days where hubby knows you need to photograph.? Good luck finding you balance girl.
What a beautiful shot, Amanda. I get caught up in taking photos so much, but I love it. You will gain that balance with your photos and family. If you include family in some of your photos you will be creating family time as well. FAV
This is an amazing shot, Amanda! Balancing the needs of others has been the hardest thing for me with this project too. On our recent trip, I agreed to keep the big camera under wraps for days and even not to bring the point and shoot for much of the day. Hard to do, which is a little scary at times. Who is more important? Obvious answer, but harder to do.
Great job with the flare, with interesting double spikes. I am lucky that Linda is also a photographer, and very patient with me. I do find, however, that for my own good I sometimes need to set the camera down and just LOOK at a scene to really enjoy the experience.
Ooh this captures the atmosphere that I love about winter!
I was getting quite depressed at all the pics people were posting complaining about the cold, but this has cheered me up :)
