My evil plan and lure worked to get them there, but I think, just maybe they are onto me. How funny would a sign be that says "Free Dinner here!" with an arrow. Next time.:)
Ah, I get it, so the female is lovely and bright red and all fluffy loveliness, and Mr Cardinal is just a plain old bird coloured bird?! You ladies and all your make up and finery!!
@seanoneill You got it wrong, Sean. In the bird world, it's the boys who are prettier. Think peacocks. The red is the dude. Lucky dude. I'd love to be red like him.
@dandelionmama I told you we shouldn't trust a find like this, honey! True words:).
The drab females want to blend with the background when on the nest, so the males compete with bright colors. Sort of like human guys buying bright flowers on Valentines Day. This bird needs to pay more attention to his lady.
I wish they had a PM system like Facebook! lol, I was wondering how you do your self portraits? Do you use a remote? If so, which one? I am trying to do self portraits with self timer, it is SO hard because I cannot get myself in focus!!!
@dandelionmama I did a timer for so long and finally bought an $8 remote at Target with a birthday gift card in June. Best $8 buy ever. It's soooo tough to get focused right. I sometimes shoot in auto to make it easier or focus on a kid or an item around where I will be. And then sometimes it takes numerous takes. Sometimes I get it done in one sitting and sometimes it's up to 3. Selfies are such fun!
@amandal - That's how I got so close to mine as well! Cardinals are pretty shy. But when it is super cold likes it has been, they somewhat overlook their shyness, but they tend to have their combs standing on end when they are uneasy . These two seem to feel right at home. Northern Cardinals are monogamous so you normally will see pairs of them at the feeder. But, not necessarily at the same time.
One day I'm determined to see a cardinal with my own eyes. I wish they lived here. I love how you lured them to your railing. You had a bright, sunshiny day!!

@kerristephens @leananiemand Thanks, ladies!!
