This week, Clara and I got to experience a little bit of heaven here on earth. We got to love on an injured robin and then we got to miraculously witness it fly away.
I was inside and I heard a loud thump on the window and from experience figured it was a bird that hit the glass. I saw a robin looking dazed and confused lying on the back deck. It’s wings were spread in a funky angle and it’s beak was open as if uttering a curse. The bird was clearly rattled.
After a few minutes, I went out with Clara to check on it and offer it some bread and comfort.
I figured it was probably dying, but hoped to offer it some comfort and love while it did. No one, nothing should die alone.
I also know and remember that God cares for the sparrows as per the verse below in Matthew (and robins, too, right?):
Matthew 10:29-30 New International Version (NIV)
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.[a] 30 And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
The part about Him knowing the number of hairs on our heads has been a fact that always floors and impresses me. Not only this, but the little birds are precious and important to him, so I turned to God and asked Him to help this sweet robin live.
We pet it and prayed for it. I got some shots of Clare touching the bird for proof (how often does one get to pet a wild bird?) And after a little while, it flew away. So glad to have the chance to touch (it was so delightfully soft) and help a sweet little birdie the other day. So grateful that God heard our prayers and helped the bird live and quickly take flight again. We experienced a beautiful moment here on earth that we will never forget. Love that we can remember the moment with some photos.
May you get to see a bit of heaven on earth today. May you remember that you are so dear that the God of the Universe knows the number of hairs on your head. And also realize that though He is big, He cares about the littlest things like the fate of a tiny bird (and even more so your cares and worries). You are loved and precious. Never forget that.
A beautiful hymn that has been in my head:

Love how her hair is swaying and how tender her touch is in this picture. Sweet robin.
The photo is one I would surely put in a scrapbook for wonderful memories to ponder later in life. Or maybe just count your blessings because surely this is a blessing!! FAV
Big fav
They are well-deserved! Love this and fav!
Wow, my friends, I humbly thank you for all of your amazing, lovely comments. This shot made the PP. I so rarely make the PP this year, so this was a big honor. What I love best about the fact that it did was that it was not just a pretty photo, but one that told a precious story and moment in our lives. Those are my favorite kinds of shots. So grateful we were a part of this story and that I captured it (as an afterthought). So happy, too, that the story had a happy ending. Such was not the case for the little lizard my kids found in the yard yesterday. Today it's frozen:(. Thank you for your kindness.
@annied Thanks, Annie. So so grateful that this was a happy ending story (at least from what we saw).
@hollandcrew Thank you, Al!!!
@soboy5 Really appreciate that, Danny. Thanks so much!
@kchuk Thanks, Elyse. So pleased that this made the TT. It's awesome when it is a meaningful photo.
So very honored and grateful that this made the TT. Thanks for all of your lovely comments, faves and support that made it possible:).
@eyesmile Aw, thank you so much, Gena. This is such a treasured moment in my life. So glad I pulled out the camera as an afterthought.
