A Bit Bookish

Yes, I love to read. Nothing like snuggling up with a good book.

Last night, I did this with a candle burning and a glass of wine. And I didn't even spill the wine. I've had some wine issues lately. Issues with spilling, issues with swallowing sharp objects in my glass. Such issues;-). No issues last night, thankfully.

I was absolutely wiped out exhausted, though, and still somehow managed to pull of doing 2 different selfies and edits. Then I got back into bed to read. LOVE getting into bed after a long day. Relaxing with a good book, then snapping off the light to zzzzz...

Right now I am reading The Goldfinch. It's pretty heavy and hard to digest so I am reading it slow. I'm disturbed here because I was at a part in the book where the main character is contemplating his suicide. See...heavy.

I think my favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. That and Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

Day 3 of 5 day b&w challenge.
This is really well lit. Bed and a book - very nice

I love to read, but seldom seem to find the time lately! I'm struggling through 'Wicked' at the moment - not as light and fluffy as I was expecting, given that the musical is based on it. Cool pic!

great lighting

Haha, it is important NOT to spill the wine. Nice selfie

Great light for the bed selfie. I always like it when I managed to get the wine in my mouth as well :)

You can never have too many books. Or too much wine.

Great selfie, lighting

Great portrait

This is really good! Can read the title, everything is lit perfectly. And the expression is wonderful, doesn't look staged at all.

You definitely portrayed and captured a deep concentration on what you're reading. Excellently done.

love it!

Wonderful self-portrait in black and white! (I love "To Kill a Mockingbird," too)!

so focused and intense...lovely lady...lovely bw! great books too!
January 15th, 2015
Great shot! I love reading too. By the time I get to ready at night, I only get through a page or two before nodding off.
January 15th, 2015
Fantastic photograph! Glad you like the book. I was supposed to read that for my bookclub but I just show up to help them drink the wine.
January 15th, 2015
You are a woman of many faces; I like the intense look in this one... totally consumed in the book. Great selfie.
January 15th, 2015
Wonderful lighting on this selfie! And now you've got me thinking about choosing my fav book of all time - going to have to think on that a long while - so many choices...

Great lighting and composition
January 15th, 2015
Now this is the kind of selfie you can appreciate :D
January 15th, 2015
I often wonder how you create these awesome selfies. The composition, pose and lighting are amazing. Fav

I could go for the wine and snuggling up, but not with a book! LOL LOL I'm dyslectic and reading is very hard for me. Show me something and I can learn it in a heart beat, just don't make me read about it and try to learn. I need to read a sentence anywhere from 1 to 3 times before I get it right...so give me the wine and I'll watch the movie!!! ROFL!! Great selfie and it really looks like you are perplexed!! Really like it in B/W!!

FAV!!!!!!!!

Such concentration. Nice shot Amanda.

Swallowing sharp objects from your wine sounds dangerous! Love your selfie, you have such concentration on your face. I read every night when I get into bed... it's my sleeping pill :) Is the book worth reading or too much hard work?
January 15th, 2015
@bella_ss I think it's worth reading. Hoping for redemption with the ending. So far, lots of work. It could have been dangerous...the sharp object. Thankfully I coughed it up. It was over an inch long (hard plastic, needle like). I wrote the company and so far am just getting reimbursed for the wine. I could have died!
January 15th, 2015
@amandal Oh my god... I think they should be showering you with gifts! I once had something in a chocolate so sent it back to them and received LOTS of chocolate in return.
January 15th, 2015
@bella_ss I got rid of the bottle, they want the bottle. I do have the object. Will send it to them. Oh well.
January 15th, 2015
great light Amanda - my glasses would need to be on my face though hahahahaha
January 15th, 2015
@annied Mine, too. I'm blind as a bat. I couldn't see here. Maybe that explains the frown.
January 15th, 2015
Fabulous selfie!

Great selfie!
January 15th, 2015
Serious frown, Amanda. Great light and another great selfie. I can't see a remote control, so how do you manage to look with such intense concentration when you have only seconds to jump into bed after pressing the shutter?
January 15th, 2015
@yrhenwr I toss the remote. I have a bedstand next to me that I think I stuck it on. I've lots of practice:). Thanks!

Another fab selfie set up perfectly and extra special in b & w.
January 15th, 2015
Great shot! I used to read so much but seem to find so little time for it these days!
January 15th, 2015
Nice capture. Very intent look. It has been so, so long since I read Ken Follett, I don't even recognize the title. I just Googled the book, and I remember it now, and the sequel too.
January 15th, 2015
@bill_fe Loved them both. Read his recent trinity series of WWI on recently. those are heavy books!
January 15th, 2015
Thanks for participating in the 5+2 weekly selfie theme of "Lost in a Book"!
