Early in the summer, I planted my first "garden." Plant boxes of tomatoes, peppers and herbs.
I had given up on my tomato plants, had even stopped watering them. They were overgrown, half dead and unfruitful. And then we came home from two weeks of vacation and had a few tomatoes actually growing. We were so excited.
This is the first one ripe that wasn't carried off by or bitten into by a squirrel...my first fruit. Just goes to show that you never should give up. You still may bear fruit yet.
Next year, I'm going to try again and maybe not so readily give up.
We have loved our tomatoes this year also. We don't always get such warm weather and this year we got quite a nice crop. Soooo delicious. Makes the supermaket ones taste like plastic. This is a lovely tomato and beautifully presented!
Nice documentation of the "one and only"! Yes, gardens are labor of love, and we don't always get the fruit! The birds enjoy my fruit trees, and some other creatures love my tomatoes. Maybe next year I will just plant some hot peppers...
