hornets’ nest

Rain most of today (and yesterday, and the day before that…) so posting one from earlier in the month. And messed up my dates yesterday so posting this for the 22nd. Saw this on a walk at the nature center; it is a Bald-faced Hornets’ nest, complete with a hornet flying near the bottom point.

I like the hornet you captured flying near the bottom. Hope this was close to the ground. The saying goes hornets nest high in trees means a cold snowy winter.
